Barton Aerials history

When our company was first established there were only three television channels available. BBC1, BBC2 and ITV. There were also many black and white televisions around and most people were renting their televisions from major rental companies like DER and Radio Rentals. The cost to install a standard aerial back then was approximately £18.00 for a full fit and £7.50 plus parts for a repair. Channel 4 arrived on our televisions in the early eighties followed by channel 5 a little later. Satellite installations were also available using 60cm dishes beamed to the Astra satellite.

Changes have continuously developed over the years within the industry and continue to do so. As analogue television fades away, digital television grows and is better. Not only with clearer quality pictures, but we have so much more choice now.
